Principal's Message

Welcome to Toombs County High School where our vision is “Excellence For ALL!” I would like to welcome parents and guardians, students, visitors, and community members to Toombs County High School. I encourage you to visit our webpage as well as our social media pages for important academic information, upcoming event details, extra-curricular information, and to stay up-to-date regarding important announcements relevant to our school.

Toombs County High School is a special place where Bulldog pride and tradition are apparent. As a 1994 graduate of Toombs County High School, a life-long resident of Lyons, Georgia, and an avid TCHS Bulldog fan who participated in many academic and extracurricular activities and programs, I am honored and humbled to serve as the principal of Toombs County High School. I am blessed to serve with a faculty and staff who are committed to putting our students’ needs at the forefront of everything that we do. It is our goal to provide a nurturing and highly engaging learning environment that supports ALL students based on their academic as well as social-emotional needs and strengths in order to equip them with the skills necessary for success long after they leave high school and enter into the ever-changing world in which we live.

I, along with the TCHS faculty and staff, come to work to challenge not only ourselves, but to also challenge each student to be the best he or she can be! We are honored to serve your child as we “Believe In EVERY Child, EVERY Day!” I, as well as the TCHS faculty and staff, look forward to forming a collaborative partnership with all of our parents and guardians, our students, and our community members to ensure that academic achievement and social-emotional well-being remain at the forefront of all of our students’ high school experiences.

At TCHS, we offer a wide range of academic courses, including Advanced Placement courses, Dual Enrollment opportunities, CTAE electives and pathways, Work-Based Learning opportunities, Fine Arts courses and pathways, Physical Education and Weight Training courses, and elective courses and pathways through our partnership with the Southeastern Early College and Career Academy (SECCA). In addition, we offer a variety of extra-curricular opportunities through clubs and organizations, including our Redcoat Marching Band where, if you are an alumni member, “Once A Redcoat, Always A Redcoat” forever holds true! We certainly “Can’t Hide Our Bulldog Pride” when it comes to our athletic program which affords our student athletes the opportunity to participate in numerous sports that teach strong character as well fundamentals.

These aforementioned opportunities as well as the hard work and dedication of our parents and guardians, students, faculty and staff, educational partners, and community members are a testimony to the increase and significant gains TCHS has made towards the graduation rate of our students which is currently 94 percent!

As a parent, I understand how very important it is to be able to place your trust into the hands of a school community where you feel your child will be treated fairly, with respect, and as though you would want him or her to be treated, all while receiving the best education possible in a safe environment. I assure you as principal, as a former graduate of TCHS and as a parent of 2018 and 2021 graduates of TCHS, that I believe in treating every child in our building as though he or she is my own. This same expectation holds true for our faculty and staff. I take my job very seriously, and the students are the number one reason I come to work each and every day. I, along with the TCHS faculty and staff, believe in your child, and we will never simply give up on him or her. Everyone is someone’s child, and he or she deserves to be treated as such.

I, along with the TCHS faculty and staff, look forward to partnering with you and your child during the course of his or her high school career. If we can ever be of assistance to you, or if you know any student who would like to enroll in our school and wishes to “Be A Dog” by joining our TEAM to be a part of our longstanding tradition, please do not hesitate to contact me at (912)526-4286 or via school e-mail at marissa.morris@toombs.k12.ga.us.

It is my pledge and commitment to you that I, along with the TCHS faculty and staff, will continue to work tirelessly, relentlessly, and passionately to always make decisions based on your child’s best interest, just as I would my own children, and just as I have for the 25 years that I have worked for the Toombs County School System. Your heart is and always will be our heart!

I am looking forward to a productive and blessed year!

Respectfully,

Marissa M. Morris
