Makenna Gardisser, Junior, is our WBL student of the week. Makenna works at God’s Willing Boutique in Lyons, GA. She is shown with some of the new inventory that she just put out at the boutique. Makenna states that she loves working at God's Willing Boutique and she is gaining skills that she will use in her future career. TCHS would like to thank God's Willing Boutique and all other business partners for their support of the WBL program.

Emma Durrence, Junior, is our WBL student of the week. Emma is employed at G Marie's in Lyons and uses the information she is learning in her business pathway at her workplace. She is posing with one of G Marie's mannequins that is going to be used in the store display. Every week the store has a color scheme and the window is changed in correlation to that theme. Toombs County High School would like to thank G Marie's and all other business partners for their support of the Work-Based Learning program.

Alivia "Keeley" Hall, senior, is our WBL student of the week. Keeley works at Glow Salon in Lyons where she is putting to practice what she has learned in the cosmetology program at SECCA. She is shown with a display of red and pink hair care products that she has displayed for Valentine's Day. Keeley loves her job at Glow and is gaining valuable experience that she will use in her future career as a master cosmetologist.

Congratulations to our 2026 DAR Good Citizen Award recipient, Sarah Ellis Walker! The DAR Good Citizen Award is intended to encourage the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. Maecon Lynn placed 1st and John Featherston earned 2nd place in the Microsoft Office Specialist Word (Office 2019) State Competition—both with perfect scores! 👏

Maecon will now represent Georgia at the 2026 MOS U.S. National Championship in Nashville. Huge congratulations to these students and to their teacher, Ms. Jessica Jones, for an outstanding accomplishment! 💻🏆

Congratulations to Clark Brannen for being named the 2026 PAGE STAR student for Toombs County High School! The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program honors Georgia's highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. The program is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation and locally sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Vidalia. To obtain the STAR nomination, high school seniors must have the highest score on any single test date of the three-part SAT taken in high school and be in the top 10% of their class. Clark selected Coach Todd Allen as his STAR teacher. Coach Allen is the Assistant Athletic Director, Wrestling Head Coach, and teaches physical education at Toombs County High School.
