Work-Based Learning Students of the Week
This week we would like to spotlight two Work-Based Learning seniors, Shay Kight and Bentlee Beasley. These amazing young ladies delivered the "How Sweet it Is" t-shirts to the other schools in our district. They volunteered to help out as part of their community service project of giving back to the system. Acts of volunteerism like this show what student leadership and community spirit look like in action. We are proud of their hard work and even prouder of the way they support each other, our school system, and the Work-Based Learning program.
Bentlee is employed at Abednego Primary Care and Shay works at The Davis House Photography Studio, both in Vidalia. TCHS thanks Bentlee and Shay for their deliveries today and their employers for supporting them in completing the project.

Our FCCLA students have had wonderful experiences competing in Region and State events this year. We had a great time at the 2026 State Leadership Conference, March 24-27 in Columbus, GA. Our chapter was well represented, and we are very proud of these students and of all their hard work.

TCHS WBL program is proud to recognize senior Chad Casella as this week’s Work‑Based Learning Student of the Week! Chad works at Mixon Pecan Company, where he has quickly become an outstanding member of their team. He is shown installing a MaxxiJet Emitters irrigation system for the new crop of pecan trees.
His employer praises his strong initiative, noting that Chad jumps into any task without needing to be prompted and is always eager to learn something new. His work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to grow make him stand out in the best way.

PROM 2026 Reminders & Information
3:30 PM – 5:30 PM - Pix's Photography will begin taking pictures at their studio in downtown Vidalia. If you are interested, make sure you sign up for a picture appointment by Thursday, April 9TH. The sign up sheet will be posted outside the Media Center.
7:00 PM - The 2026 Senior Walk begins in the auditorium. Seniors should be in line in the main hall at TCHS no later than 6:45. Seniors should have no more than 2 escorts for senior walk.
7:30 - 7:55 PM - Immediately following the senior walk parents and community members are invited to walk through the prom area in the multipurpose room.
8:00 PM -11:00 PM - Prom will be in the multipurpose room.

Youth Apprenticeship Student of the Week: Mackenzie Grimm
Toombs County High School and the Georgia Department of Education are proud to celebrate YAP completer Mackenzie Grimm.
Mackenzie’s journey began at TCHS, where she completed the SECCA cosmetology pathway while working as a YAP student at GLOW Salon in Lyons. Under the dedicated mentorship of shop owner Melanie Bowen, Mackenzie flourished, gaining the hands-on experience necessary to excel in the industry.
Following her 2024 graduation, Mackenzie enrolled in the Master Cosmetology program at Southeastern Technical College. She completed her requirements this past December, officially passed her state boards, and is now working her dream job as a licensed professional at GLOW Salon.
We are incredibly proud of Mackenzie’s hard work and dedication to her vocation . TCHS would also like to extend a sincere thank you to GLOW Salon and all of our local business partners for their continued support of the WBL/YAP program. Congratulations, Mackenzie!

AJ Bagby, 11th Grader, and Lane Bagby, 8th Grader, finished 3rd with 19.87 pounds in the GA Bass Nation fishing tournament on Saturday March 21st, 2026. They competed against 128 other Georgia High School teams.
“The conditions were changing hourly on the lake during the tournament. The bass were spawning before the cold front brought temps in the 30’s for several nights. The fish pushed off the banks and we found them deep in creek channels and river channels. We had to scramble all day and make adjustments on the fly to find active fish”, said AJ Bagby.
“We caught a lot of fish today and had a blast. AJ caught a key 4.68 pound spotted bass on a jighead minnow that got out day turned around. We caught fish on Neko rigs, jighead worms, jighead minnows and several other baits”, said Lane Bagby.
This 3rd place finish will push the Lake Dawgs into the Top 5 for the Angler of the Year race.

Toombs County Family Connection is hosting a Kinship Caregiver Support Group on Thursday, March 27 from 6:00–7:30 PM at 125 Church St., Suite 104 in Vidalia.
This group is designed for grandparents, relatives, and other caregivers who are raising children in kinship care situations. It’s a welcoming space to connect with others who understand the journey, share experiences, and learn about helpful resources.
Childcare and dinner will be provided to make attending easier for families.

Gabriel is gaining job skills that will benefit him throughout his working career. He states he likes his job and his work family.
