Toombs County High School -

Congratulations to the Toombs County FBLA, who attended their State Leadership Conference in Atlanta March 12-15. They received Silver Chapter of the year, and also brought home three top 10 placements. Sophie Tillman placed 1st in Journalism, Marlee Yeomans placed 5th in Advertising, and Alex Patrick placed 7th in Agribusiness. We are looking forward to competing at Nationals this summer!

🇺🇸 Toombs County High School Students Visit the Georgia State Capitol! AP Government students and Student Council representatives had an incredible opportunity to visit the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta thanks to an invitation from Senator Blake Tillery. Students were able to observe government in action by sitting in on either a House session, where Representative Leesa Hagan recognized the Toombs County High School students, or a Senate session, where Senator Blake Tillery also recognized students from the Senate floor. During the visit, students toured the Capitol, enjoyed lunch, and heard from several professionals who shared insights about careers in state government and public policy. Speakers included: • Paul Higbee, Deputy Legislative Counsel • Caroline Hicks, Program Analyst, Senate Budget Office • Rhonda Chatham, Executive Director of Georgia’s Rural Telephone Broadband Association • Donald Kirkland, Director of State Government Relations at Georgia Tech Students also had the opportunity to meet and take photos with Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp as well as Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and Senator Blake Tillery. A special thank you to Dr. Ashlee Tillery and Emma Beck, Senate Intern for Senator Tillery, for hosting our students and taking time to speak with them about the legislative process. We also appreciate Mrs. Christian, AP Government teacher and Student Council sponsor, for organizing this outstanding learning experience. There will be an informational meeting for any 9th-11th grade student interested in running for Student Council on Wednesday, March 25th at 8:45am. An announcement will be made to call you to the board room at that time. Weather Update for Toombs County Schools:
At this time, all Toombs County schools will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, March 16, 2026. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and remain in communication with local emergency management officials. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. To help support families, Toombs County Family Connection will be hosting a Facebook LIVE Teen Maze Parent Panel on Wednesday, March 18 from 12:00–1:00 PM.

During the live session, local professionals will share information and perspectives on topics that many teens face today, including bullying, vaping, drug use, online safety, relationships, and overall teen well-being.

This will be a helpful and informative conversation designed to support parents and caregivers as we all work together to guide and encourage our youth.

TCHS Work-Based Learning Student of the Week

Jack Williams, Senior, is this week's WBL student of the week. Jack works at Advanced Fabrications in Lyons. He is shown unloading sheets of metal off of the laser bed. One of the machines that Jack has learned to operate is the Fiber and CO2 Laser where he assists with the design and cutting of different spec parts. Jack has embraced the work at the family business and helps complete jobs locally and statewide. TCHS thanks Advanced Fabrications for their partnership and support of the WBL program.

Students from Toombs County High School recently attended the Career Fair at Southeastern Technical College, where they had the opportunity to connect with representatives from local businesses, industries, colleges, and the military. Through events like this, our students explore career pathways, learn about in-demand jobs in our region, and build valuable connections with employers. Experiences that connect education, technical skills, and real-world careers help ensure our Bulldogs are prepared for success after graduation. We appreciate Southeastern Technical College and Mr. Brad Hart for hosting this event and providing our students with the opportunity to engage with industry and workforce leaders. We are proud to recognize two outstanding TCHS students who represented our school yesterday at the Rotary Club Speech Contest! 🎤 Leeson Allen delivered a powerful speech about the dangers of fake news and misinformation. Aiden Caraway spoke on the importance of men’s mental health. Both students represented Toombs County High School with confidence, insight, and professionalism. We are incredibly proud of the way they used their voices to speak on meaningful issues that impact our society. 👏🎉

The Greater Vidalia® Youth Leadership program is for high school juniors and seniors. The program is designed to develop leadership potential and to acquaint participants with community needs and resources through interaction with community leaders and decision-makers.
We are proud of the following seniors for applying, being accepted, and completing this year-long program through the Greater Vidalia Chamber:
Jean Peterson, Mareli Luna-Munos, Aubrey Gay, Sarah Ellis Walker, Jack Williams, Clark Brannen, and Ella Kate Adams.

We are incredibly proud of two of our Toombs County FFA members for their success in the Area Creed Speaking Contest! Anabel Leon placed 1st in the Spanish Creed Speaking Contest and will advance to the State Contest next Friday! Anabel delivered the FFA Creed beautifully in Spanish and represented our chapter extremely well. Anna Lynn Hutcheson also placed 1st in the Creed Speaking Contest and will advance to compete at the State Contest during the Georgia FFA State Convention in April. We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and confidence these two young ladies showed. Please help us congratulate them and wish them the best of luck as they represent Toombs County FFA at the state level!

Alivia Patrick, Senior, is the Work-Based Learning student of the week. Alivia works at Little Folks Farm Daycare in Johnson's Corner and loves working as an assistant teacher with the children in her classroom. She is pictured reading to the students about bees and pollination. Alivia will use her experience in her future role of an elementary school teacher. We are so thankful for Alivia and her commitment to shape the lives of young children in our community. Toombs County High School thanks Little Folks Farm and Daycare and all other business partners for their support of the Work-Based Learning program.
